Blown Away by David Archuleta
It’s been an Archu-filled couple of days with an overwhelming dosage of blogs by David and the most amazing TV appearances. But what made it especially exhilarating, to me at the least, was the variety of questions posed to David at the interviews and his exemplary responses, in his trademark disarming, self-effacing style. With each interview overtime, David reveals more about himself, his experiences with the album, being famous, and relationships with family, friends and fans - precious nuggets of information that fans will remember and cherish for a long time to come.

David’s answer to this question melted my heart. Having met and conversed with David in August on the idol tour, I have engaged in conversations with fans over the question of whether David remembered me, a fan who travelled 10,000 miles to meet him, but nonetheless still only one out of a million adoring fans.
Then I heard his heartfelt response to this question. It is the most endearing, most humble remark any celebrity could have given about his relationship with fans.
Interviewer: You’ve met thousands of people from all over the country, yet when you see some people the second time, you remember them. How do you do that?
David: Well, I guess it’s just… trying to remember the memory you had with someone. I think that’s how you really get to know people, and how you start a relationship in seeing uhm… the good things in people. And uhm… when you have enough time to get to know them and find something good about them, you start a friendship, right from that very first moment. And I think that’s how it is kind of when you get to know your fans, you kind of gain uhm… those friendships with them.
David wants to see the good in his fans and develop friendships with them, even “right from the very first moment”. To imagine the remotest possibility that David might have had this mindset of making friends with me during the times I spent with him backstage on the idol tour is enough to cause multiple organ failure, so my brain automatically shuts down to protect my vital functions, as it is doing now. Can’t *gasp* write *gasp* more…

In spite of his unassuming personality, David is not one to be bullied. Kathy Griffin tried to grill David, but got the tables turned on her by him instead. Facing an invitation by the world’s greatest singer to duet with him, Griffin chickened out and opted to make amends to him instead.
As if this is not awesome enough, David showers us with more Archu-love with his myspace blogs:

I’m a concert - goer!
Hey guys! The last week has been a pretty crazy one! I did a bunch of appearances on some shows, and I’ll be on the Bonnie Hunt Show Tuesday haha. I hope everyone’s liking the album! And thanks for sending in your opinions on what songs you like the most! I love hearing about what you guys think, and really appreciate the great comments you’ve all been making.
I just wanted to tell you really quick about my weekend. On Friday night I was supposed to go home, but we missed our flight. So instead… we went to the Alanis Morissette concert, which was amazing! I forgot how much I loved Alanis and how big of a fan I am. There was a point in time where I was addicted to quite a few of her songs, and I still love her. She is great live, and she gets into it in a really unique way. If you haven’t heard her before you should listen to Uninvited. It’s one of my favorite songs. Another interesting fact about Uninvited that I learned is that the producer who produced the song, Rob Cavallo, produced David Cook’s album. Cool, huh? Another good song of hers is Thank You.
On Saturday, we were able to go back home for a day. I got to spend time with the family again, and what’s cool is there just so happened to be an awesome concert that I didn’t know about going on that day. It was Lady Gaga, Natasha Bedingfield, and New Kids on the Block. I didn’t get to see a whole lot of Lady Gaga since I thought the concert started at 8, but that’s when Natasha’s set started haha. But I finally got to see Natasha perform live!! Of course I was loving it lol. She did amazing, and I was really happy that I got to see her in concert in Utah. I never thought I’d get the chance to, especially at the beginning when she wasn’t really known in the US yet. I really admire the way she’s gone with her music and career, and how sweet of a person she is! She is just down to earth and stays true to herself — whether it’s in person, in her music, or on stage. New Kids on the Block were also amazing too! I couldn’t believe how great of a concert they could still put on, and for a comeback tour. It was full of energy the whole way through! My family went too, so it was great to be able to all spend time together at a concert. A couple of my friends were also able to go, and they said it was the best concert they’ve been to. I can’t believe how many concerts I’ve been able to go to lately! I seriously have gone to more in the last little while than in my life. You learn so much by watching the way people put on a show, and how they perform live. I’ve been having such a great time. I was never really into concerts before, but I guess now that I’m older I appreciate it a lot more. Just being able to watch experienced people live is one of the greatest things ever. Especially seeing artists who have inspired me so much. Jason Mraz, Alanis Morissette, and Natasha Bedingfield have all been major influences for me, and being able to see all of them in concert is just incredible. So I’m definitely a concert-goer now haha. Seriously everyone, if you haven’t been to a concert yet you should! Especially if you’re a singer, you learn A TON from watching the way someone performs. And everyone does it their own way too. Ah, I just love it! But I’ve rambled a lot more than I wanted to haha. I should probably get going. We’re back in LA, and I got to see Brooke and Ramiele! It’s always good to spend time with those guys. Well I’m gonna run, but before I go I just want to remind everyone that Cook’s album is coming out tomorrow! So don’t forget to show your support, and be prepared to listen to some awesome stuff! haha. Ciao.
Song for the day: Put Your Arms Around Me - Natasha Bedingfield
And as if this is still not enough, David expresses his deep appreciation to his fans in writing!

Thank You
I just want you all to know how much I appreciate your unselfish, usually anonymous time and dedication to show your support for me and just want to say, Thank you sooo much. It means a lot to me, I feel like I can’t thank you enough for it.
David, we are the ones who cannot thank you enough. We cannot thank you enough for your once-in-a-lifetime voice, your beautiful style of music, your wholesome personality, your optimism, your thankful spirit, your EVERYTHING.
And finally, David shares about his journey in professional song-writing, which I’m eager to lap it all up:

Album’s Out and So Is David!

The album is finally out now!! It’s been a pretty wild week or so, but I can’t believe the album’s out! I spent pretty much every open space I had over the summer working on it, so it had been quite a busy summer too. But it just blows my mind to think it’s actually out. It’s so weird that it feels a little surreal, haha. But even with everything that’s been going on, I’m really happy with how it turned out.
I’m really glad that I got to write some songs for the album, too. I helped write two of the songs on the main album, which were “A Little Too Not Over You” and “Don’t Let Go.” They were both written pretty close to the deadline of having to have the album finished actually. I wrote “Don’t Let Go” with JC Chasez and Jimmy Harry, who wrote “Low” for Kelly Clarkson, and they were so cool to work with. “A Little Too Not Over You,” I wrote with Robbie Nevil, who wrote “One Step At A Time,” Mike Krompass, and Matthew Gerrard who wrote “Breakaway.” I also wrote one of the songs for the iTunes deluxe version called “Falling” and the Wal-Mart bonus track called “Works For Me.” I wrote “Works For Me” with Toby Lightman and Daniel Bedingfield, and that was actually really intimidating because they are both amazing singers. But they were really cool to work with, and I had a great time. I also took part in writing a song called “Somebody Out There,” but it was for pre-order on iTunes only. So five songs was a lot more than I ever expected than from the beginning, haha. But anyway, I kinda rambled off with that one.
Over the last week or so, I went on Jay Leno, TODAY, TRL, Mi TRL, and Regis and Kelly, with a few more coming up. It’s been a lot of fun! I’m getting the hang of singing “Crush” live and also getting the hang of singing early in the morning, haha. I also had a signing at the Virgin Megastore at Times Square for the day the album came out, and that was really neat to see everyone come out for that. It surprised me how diverse the age group was and that there were a both a bunch of guys and girls. So it was pretty cool. I really appreciated everyone coming out for the special night, and it was my first time in the Megastore, too. So it’s been a pretty exciting time in my life right now, with the first album out! I just can’t get over that… It’s seriously mind-blowing. So I hope everyone enjoys it!
Sadly, this is my last Alloy blog, but I had a good time keeping you guys updated and making sure I got pictures of things that were going on, haha. I have actually gotten into bringing my camera around to make sure I get pictures of a lot more stuff. But if you want to keep updated on what’s going on, I have the official site, davidarchuleta.com, and then I have a MySpace page www.myspace.com/davidarchuleta. I post blogs on my MySpace whenever I have something I want to share, too, so if you want to keep reading my weird blogs, that’s the place to go.
Everyone have a good night, and take care!

It’s nice that David blogs about the concerts he has been attending. I’m sure it’s not pure entertainment for him that he goes to these concerts but rather, he’s also making a quick study for his own concert that I heard might be early next year?
