David Archuleta’s “Crush” and Pachelbel’s “Canon” - Medley

As we diehard fans know, David Archuleta’s phenomenally successful single “Crush” has inspired countless cover versions. FSteven (Singapore) stumbled upon this perky, creative medley of “Crush” and Pachelbel’s “Canon” - conceptualized, arranged and performed by Advait Sarkar, a “world fusion composer” from India who’s the same age as David and who adores David too.

Within a day since its release on YouTube, this medley was the #1 featured video on YouTube India and received the following honors:

#1 - Most Discussed (Today) - India
#1 - Top Favorited (Today) - India
#1 - Top Rated (Today) - India
#1 - Top Rated (This Week) - India

Read Advait’s description of the video in his own words:

“Hey there guys! I have a special treat for you here, and it took me 5 tedious hours to make, so please reward me with a few comments and ratings, if not subscriptions! =)

There are TOO MANY covers of Canon Rock out there. So I thought,
“Well, why not make a Canon POP”?

I idolize David Archuleta (No, I’m not gay), simply because he’s my age, and at my age, he’s managed to follow his dream and become successful at it. I would love to meet him someday, maybe talk about music and stuff, but until that day comes, let me content myself with covering his music!

I thought that maybe I could fuse these two songs together. I tried it through on the piano, and it sounded great! So that’s how I ended up making this video. I couldn’t resist orchestrating it a bit, thus the heavy pop arrangement. 99% of this video was improv, so please don’t ask for sheet music!

I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it! If you did, show your appreciation by rating, commenting, subscribing, yadayadayada…

If you’re Johann Pachelbel then you’re probably dead!

Advait plays the keyboard exceedingly well. This medley is on repeat mode on my youtube. Two famous pieces, separated by hundreds of years in their conception and performance - now blended into an almost seamless harmony. Never knew that the marriage between modern pop and classical music could be this impressive. But it should be hardly surprising - David’s songs open up the world of music to never-before-experienced possibilities. Awesome beyond words!

Well, Advait, I hope you’ll get to meet David someday. May David Archuleta continue to inspire you to create beautiful music! Thank you for this medley. Keep praying and keep the faith!

You’re welcome, AJ. I too love it more than the symphony version. Canon makes the instrumental Crush even more beautiful, sort of enhances its appeal.
